Can't Help It

Can't help it. My hands are itchy that I need to write this.

Politics has never been a dinner conversation to most people, worldwide.

Not many enjoy sharing words on this topic. Which is fine.

An issue that I observed in this country, one like to talk about the other, humiliate the other, yet one is not ready to be talked about and be humiliated. Be it the the opposition or the government.

I've resided in Australia for a bit. I've seen their politics, I've experience election in a country foreign to me. Labor party openly condemn the Liberal as much as the Liberals condemn the Labor. Everyone gets equal parts of the pie; or maybe spoiled pie.

Here in my very much loved country, the Govt. condemned the Opp. openly, but they can't bear being belittled. The Opp. criticised the Govt. as much, and they too can't be condemned.

Come on people, if you think you are right, tell people your good rather than pointing at other's bad.

And IF you really need to "shoot" people, get your armour ready to get a bullet pointed at you as much ammo you used to fire them.

You like classic steak pie. Fine. But you have no right whatsoever to say those who favor sweet pumpkin mascarporne pie are wrong. People have their own stand, a ground of which a decision was made. You like savoury, they like desserts. So what? Just seat together, have dinner, chill out, and order what you want. You don't have to pick on their pies. They eat theirs, you eat yours. And have a fine dinner together.

Happy

You're happy when your loved ones are happy.

Parents are happy to see their child happy.

A man happy to see his lady happy.

A girl happy to see her best-friend happy.

But, to what extent?

If your child is happy to eat junk food everyday, will you allow that just for the sake of happiness?

If you lady is spending beyond affordability, that nothing else left to lived on, will you let that pass in the name of happiness?

If a close friend of yours getting "peace" on drugs and alcohol, will you agree on it because he/she is happy doing it?

To a certain extent, happiness is not a right. Its a privilege.

No I'm not starting to blog again.

I just feel like it as for now.

But I know its gonna be short-lived.

The Art of Insult

Malays, by far has the worst skill at insulting people. So I've seen.

They should know stating the obvious wouldn't count as an insult.

As bad they are at insulting, they are no better at being insulted.

With any situation happening around us, instead of focusing on the core subject, Malays tend to focus on the "obvious". Calling people Cina, Keling, Melayu, Jawa, gemuk, pendek, kurus, rambut maggi, botak, hitam, hidung kembang, telinga satelit - these shouldn't; in any way be used to insult neither they are to feel insulted.

So why oh why -

  • When a blogger wrote a controversial piece they called him/her "gemuk" rather than "bodoh".
  • When a celebrity got caught on a "bad" video  "Melayu Jawa" rather than "slutty".
  • When someone cause an accident they call him/her "Cina" rather than "careless"
  • When a person lied they are called "Keling" rather than "bullshit"

Doesn't make sense.

And so no one should feel insulted when called by the physical attributes. Kau gemuk. And? Kau kurus. And? Kau hitam. And? Kau pendek. And? See, stating the obvious is by far the silliest way of insult.

So please. To insult one needs art.

Be Smart

The biggest mistake a lot of people do when it comes to wedding-related-financial-planning is to perceived the wedding to be the happy ending to a love story when really, its a beginning for a life-long commitment.

They tend to throw all their effort and money to accomplished this. Please people. Be wise. Think deep. Stop relating yourself to all the movies and drama series that you have been watching repeatedly. You are not Cinderella. And you certainly aren't marrying Prince Charming.

Marriage doesn't ends when the wedding reception is over. In fact, as people are packing up and cleaning up the wedding hall, that's the exact point of which marks the commencement of a new chapter in one's life. Yes, it is just a new chapter - there's more to come. Having a baby opens up another chapter. Another baby and yet another chapter. Switching jobs, buying a home, upgrading your ride, moving states - these are all important part of one's life, significant enough for a new episode in his "book".

Another common  mistake (or probably lack of knowledge) is the inability to tell apart fund-availability to affordability. If you have rm50k available in your hand, I will strongly suggest you spend no more than rm15k for your wedding. That's what I call affordability. Having rm50k does not entitle you to spend it all for a wedding. I call that stupid. What's even more stupid is to spend rm50k when you only have rm30k in hand. I call that brainless.

Its like going for a full month road trip to Europe. Everyone dream of it. They save money that lasts them for the whole journey. Accommodations, meals, sightseeing tours, souvenirs, transportation, clothes etc. Stupid person will work their butt-off and when he gets enough fund, he spend it all on a first class air ticket to London. I don't need to discuss furthermore. You could guess what happen next, I supposed?

So girls, before you even start picturing your fairy-tale wedding, please asses your affordability and be smart. Practice balance. Why spend 100% on a day that counts for only 1% of the whole journey?
